The Retro Re-pin Party Week 39 featuring Grilled Sweet Potato Wedges

Welcome Back to the Retro Re-pin Party!

This week has been a bit bittersweet for me. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been a part-time nanny for the past several months for 3 of the most adorable little babies.  They were just barely 9 months old when I started watching them, and are now all around 16 months. I’ve watched them learn to pull themselves up on things, say their first words, and take their first steps. They’ve changed so much so fast and have really grown into their little personalities. Yesterday was my last day as their nanny. My initial contract with them ended this week, and we mutually agreed that I didn’t want to stay on full-time.  (Though I hope I still get to run into the babies from time to time!)  I’m in the process of starting my own business (which I hope to announce by mid-May!), so full time nannying was something I had to turn down so I have time to focus on my exciting new company. (Plus this way I get to remember them just before the terrible twos settle in. 😉 So yeah, bittersweet. New things are super-exciting, but change and the end of an era is always a bit sad. What have been your highs and lows this week?

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

Onigiri are pretty much the sandwiches of Japan. Ultra portable and filled with all sorts of different yummy things. These have the added powerhouse nutrition of chia seeds! So smart!! Why didn't I think of that?

These Chia Seed Onigiri (Japanese rice balls) are my submission for the Chia Seed Recipe Challenge. Feel free to go link up your chia seed recipes both here (as a pin) and there (as a blog post) and find some more great ways to incorporate chia seeds!

The Retro Re-pin Party is a quick, weekly link party where you can share some of your older (or “retro”) pinned blog posts and give them some new exposure while growing your Pinterest reach through re-pins.

Your Chia Seed Onigiri looks amazing! I confess… as much as I cook, I do not make anything like this. (Ahi seared tuna and wasabi is as far as I go). I go out to eat what you just created.

Thank you for hosting! I’m so glad I made it in time this week! Hope you are having a wonderful spring!! 🙂

Thanks Robin!! I honestly think these are simpler than ahi seared tuna. I struggle to not overcook fish. (I’m so used to chicken.) I bet you’d rock them! And I’m so glad to see you stopping by from time to time.

I babysit–but not 3 babies. That’s amazing. I hope you will still get to see them sometimes. Thanks for the party!

It actually started out as 4 babies until one family left the share a few months back. My co-nanny (she and I alternated days) and I always joked that we had to be completely crazy. Or in training for quadruplets. I even once changed 30 diapers in one day. I was so glad when they started eating solids and self-feeding!

I’m pretty sure I will get to see them from time to time. They hired a single nanny instead of splitting the days between 2 for this next year, but I imagine she will want a day off from time to time!

Thanks for stopping by, and I’m looking forward to linking up with you again this Friday!

Wow, I didn’t know you were going to stop nannying. I’m really excited to hear about your business, though! And you sure dodged a bullet by missing the terrible twos! This is my second nannying job where I’m going through that and it’s no fun!

It kind of happened all at once. The contract I had with them for half time (I alternated days with another nanny) ended this past week and they weren’t sure who they were hiring for the next year since my co-nanny was leaving to have a baby. They offered me the full time contract first of course, but I never really wanted to nanny full time, so I turned it down. Plus now I can better balance blogging and finishing up the tasks for my business! (It’s been so hard to keep it under wraps while I do all the legal and admin bits!)

Ah, I see! So now you are working full time from home? I’m going to be leaving my nannying job once I get married. I’ll be moving and it will be too far of a drive for just a part-time job. I can’t wait to hear more about your business! So exciting 😀

Yep! I work from home full time now. (Which currently means working from a hammock, working in a coffee shop, working from Texas, etc.) I haven’t been “home” to work in a while. Haha.

Thanks for noticing! I’ve fixed it for you. 🙂 Our link party is different since we ask for a pinterest pin, so I know it’s easy to get in a rush and add the wrong one. No worries at all!
