A Food Lover’s Holiday Gift Guide- 10 great gifts for food lovers under $20

A Food Lover's Low Budget Holiday Gift Guide -Sustaining the Powers

I’ve been seeing Holiday Gift Guides popping up all over the place and thought it might be fun to write one of my own including a few of my favorite under $20 kitchen gadgets and tools. (Note, these are not affiliate links, I just really like these products.)

1. Black & Decker Handy Chopper Plus – I don’t have a food processor, so I use this smaller version often to chop nuts and veggies, make salsa, chop onions without crying, chop herbs, make pesto and tapenade, make hummus, etc. I love that I can control how small it chops by how long I hold down the button. Plus it’s all dishwasher safe.

2. Wilton Tilt N Mix 3 Piece Bowl Set – These mixing bowls have rubber feet, tilt so you can get a good angle to mix, have pour spouts, and are dishwasher safe. We use them daily.

3. Whirley Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper – This is hands down the best way to make popcorn on the stove. Anyone who has come to my house for a game or movie night has seen how mine works and ended up buying one of their own. I love that I can make my popcorn with healthier coconut oil, and make my own kettle corn without the mess. Cleanup’s a breeze too.

4. Wilton Batter Blender – This is pretty much what you get when a whisk, a wooden spoon, and a spatula have a baby. It does an amazing job combining anything mixed in a mixing bowl because it’s very sturdy, and I love to use it on pancake batter, cookie dough and meatloaf.

5. Multicolor 4 pack of Dexas 8″x11″ Non-Slip Chopping Mats – They come in small and large sizes, but I like these smaller ones better because they’re dishwasher safe. Great for having multiple helpers in the kitchen at once or chopping up just a couple veggies. They’re flexible enough to bend a bit when moving prepped veggies and they’re super thin so they don’t take up a ton of cabinet real estate.

6. Orka Flavor and Oil Mister – This neat device lets you turn any oil or vinegar into a spray. You can even infuse oils with herbs or seasonings right in the mister. I keep it next to my stove and use it in place of Pam spray.

7. Tovolo Groovy Ice Pop Molds – My hubby has a huge sweet tooth. These are so fun to have homemade fruit pops on hand so he has something healthy and sweet to snack on. They are individual molds in a tray so you can pull one at a time from the freezer or just make a couple pops with some leftover fruit.

8. Nordic Ware Natural Aluminum Commercial Baker’s Half Sheet – This is my go-to cookie sheet. I use it almost every day for roasting veggies, baking sweets or breads, candy making, or chicken and fish. I especially love it because it perfectly fits my Silpat, favorite thing #9.

9. Silpat Silicone Baking Mat – I used to use tons of parchment paper, but with this silicone baking mat I can just wash and reuse instead of creating waste. Plus I don’t have to use extra oil or spray to keep anything from sticking. Even fragile lace cookies are perfect every time!

10. Calphalon Textiles Twill Thumb Mitt – I’m the kind of person that burns herself every time she gets near something hot. My sweet hubby gave me one of these oven mitts a few years ago and I really, really love it. It has silicone ribs that grip really well and the thumb style mitt lets me grab and hold hot things easily.

You wouldn’t think an oven mitt would be a big deal, but once you find a good one it makes all the difference in the world! I’m hoping hubby will get me a second matching one this Christmas.

Nice list! I especially like the oil mister, that would come in handy!

Thanks Denise! It definitely comes in handy. It’s probably healthier too since you spray less oil than you’d use if you poured it from a bottle.

Thanks for the list. I can attest that the Whirlypop is awesome and it’s also the gift that everyone still seems to use years later.

My hubby makes fun of me for how much I love my Whirley Pop. It’s been my favorite gift to give this year. I plan to do a giveaway with one soon for Christmas!

Great ideas! I couldn’t live without my Silpats – and you sold me on the Whirley Pop. I love stove popped corn and always have too many unpopped kernels left.

Yay for a Silpat fan and another Whirley Pop convert! It really makes all the difference in your popcorn because it’s susuper thin walled aluminum. I think I’m down to only 5-6 unpopped kernels per batch.
